Q. What do you think my child will gain from being in a preschool?
Confidence, social skills, a chance to develop fully all the physical skills possible at this stage, a broader outlook on the world than a home-base alone can provide, and a much stronger self image.
Q. What are the advantages of a Parent Participation Preschool?
The ratio of adults to children in a Parent Participation Preschool is far better than in any other educational situation you will meet in your child’s entire school career. The sheer value of encouragement and support is a tremendous boost to a child just learning to function outside the home environment. The child learns to accept and trust other adult figures than just the parents.
The support for each family in the quest to find out what is best in and for their child is unequalled.
The opportunity to develop as a parent is one you should not miss. It is a very rewarding experience.
And lastly, and most important of all, participating in a Parent Participation Preschool is fun!
Q. How much time is really involved helping in a Parent Participation Preschool?
You will have approximately:
- 1 – 2 duty days each month, depending on the number of days your child attends school
- 1 evening meeting each month (Parent Education & General Meeting)
- 1 – 2 clean up days per year
- An ongoing job which you would do all year (approx. 2-4 hours per month)
Q. How can working parents become involved in a Parent Participation Preschool?
Involvement in preschool is divided between evening meetings and daytime activities. If you are unable to participate in daytime activities, a current active member can do these for you. An adjustment in fees will be necessary for parents “opting out”. There is a limit as to how many families are able to opt out of duty days. Attendance at the monthly meetings and a job with the preschool is still mandatory.
Q. How many fathers are involved in Preschool activities?
At Hillview we encourage the participation of both parents in and out of our classroom. Every family is responsible to have a parent participate in the classroom, take on a job and volunteer when needed. We have both fathers and mothers being the participating member of the family taking a great interest in what Preschool offers their children. Both parents are encouraged to join in classroom activities and excursions. At Hillview, we value everyone’s contributions and there are many opportunities to be involved in your child’s preschool education.
