How will I be involved?
Duty days: Parents get the opportunity to assist the teacher in the classroom approximately 2 days per month depending on how often your child attends. This allows you a unique look into the daily activities and interactions of your child. Hillview operates in accordance with BC Licensing regulations ensuring proper child to adult ratios are maintained therefore 1 to 2 parents assist every school day. Job opportunities: In order for the school to maintain itself each parent is asked to take on a job position. As each parent will bring a certain talent or expertise to the school (such as typing, painting, sewing, PR etc.) our Job Coordinator will assist you in finding a job best suited for you and the time you have to give. Fundraising: In order to help keep our fees low and help with the costs of running a strong and vibrant preschool, we have to do some fundraising. These include things like our Community Easter Egg Hunt, pub nights, coffee and donut sales and raffle tickets. If you have any good fundraising ideas, let us know. We do offer an opt-out option at the beginning of the school year. Orientation: As per Provincial Licensing each participating parent in the classroom requires 10 hours of orientation. This is achieved quite easily through an orientation session, observations, meeting with the Teacher and reading the Parent Manual. If you have had a child in a Parent Participation Preschool before with more than a year in between you are required to do 5 hours of orientation. Parent Education & Meetings As a member of Hillview preschool you are required to attend General meetings which occur once every other month following the Parent Education workshop. At these meetings you will have the opportunity to connect with the other parents in your school creating a strong community while discussing the business of the preschool. It is your opportunity to voice your opinions and have a say in your child's education. Partial Participation |
